Lowe happy to be stand-in keeper

Lowe scored for Chester before replacing Jon Danby in goal

Chester forward Ryan Lowe said he was happy to deputise in goal during their 2-1 win at Notts County on Saturday.

Lowe, 30, replaced John Danby, who went off with a shoulder injury, for the last 10 minutes of the game.

"A couple of months ago, when Simon Davies was manager, we said who'd go in goal? I put my hand up then," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"It was a bit nerve wracking. I thought instead of putting someone young in goal, I'd take the responsibility."

He added: "I'm the older experienced player and I thought if I use my head I can waste a bit of time. But we've done well and the lads defended brilliantly.

"Towards the end it was a bit nerve wracking but the lads have done extremely well.

"We've done well over the least few weeks and picked up some good results. It was a deserved win."
