Wright says his side's run of bad luck with injuries is "ludicrous"
Chester manager Mark Wright says his players deserve a lot of credit for securing the 2-1 victory over Notts County on Saturday.
City had not won a game since Boxing Day, an 18-game winless streak that left them in the relegation zone.
"They haven't won for a long time," Wright told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"People should give the players credit when it's due. They've defended with their lives and and have done a lot of things right."
However, despite ending the long wait for a win, City's injury list keeps getting longer, with defender Laurence Wilson and goalkeeper John Danby both leaving the field through injury on Saturday.
Wright is ruing his side's lack of fortune as he attempts to drag the side to League safety.
"The way things are going for us, someone has run over a black cat or something because we keep getting injuries.
"We've got to hope for a little bit of good fortune. Maybe it's turned by getting a result, and if we can get the others back and get Laurence Wilson back, and if we're allowed to bring a keeper in, then it looks better for us."
The Chester manager also had words of praise for one of the club's academy youngsters who had to replace the injured Wilson in the first half.
"James Owen had to go on very early and he did exceptionally well. He tackles, he puts his head in and he got a bloody nose," said Wright.
"He doesn't stop heading, kicking, chasing and tackling - so well done to him."
