Charlton Athletic sign Paul Benson and Joe Anyinsah
Benson scored in all three play-off games for Dagenham last season
Charlton have completed the double signing of Dagenham & Redbridge striker Paul Benson and former Carlisle winger Joe Anyinsah.
Benson, 30, who scored 84 goals for the Daggers in 201 games, may make his debut against his old club in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday.
He has joined from the Addicks' League One rivals for an undisclosed fee.
Former Preston player Anyinsah, 25, left Carlisle in the summer to move closer to his home in Bristol.
Benson made his final Daggers appearance in the 2-2 draw with Tranmere on Saturday and afterwards he told BBC Essex: "It's a testament to how good this club is and how far they've come that it's a tough decision to make.
"Five years ago, the chance to go to Charlton would have been a no-brainer. We would have been a Conference side and they were in the Premiership. There probably wouldn't have been a decision to make."
Benson joined the Daggers in 2005 from Essex non-league side White Ensign and helped them to promotion from the Conference in 2007 and then from League Two last season, scoring in the play-off final against Rotherham in May.
This is the first season he has played as high as the third tier, although he has not scored in his opening four games this season.
Addicks boss Phil Parkinson told the club website: "We've worked hard on the deal and it's taken a while, but that's understandable. Dagenham & Redbridge didn't want to lose him because he's played an important part in their recent history."
Joe has been training with us for the past couple of weeks, and we're pleased to agree a deal with him
Charlton boss Phil Parkinson on winger Joe Anyinsah
Anyinsah has played most of his career at Carlisle after unproductive spells with Bristol City and Preston and loan spells with Hereford, Bury, Carlisle, Crewe and Brighton.
Parkinson said: "Joe has been training with us for the past couple of weeks, and we're pleased to agree a deal with him.
"He turned down a contract with Carlisle and had a few other offers over the summer, but then he picked up a slight injury while he was training on his own.
"He was therefore a little bit behind with his fitness, but he's been working hard with us. He can play either up front or wide right so it adds to our attacking options."
