Charlton Athletic boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed striker Chris Dickson's loan spell with Bristol Rovers will not be extended.
The 24-year-old chose to join Rovers instead of Gillingham on a three-month loan deal in August.
Parkinson told BBC Radio Kent: "You never know, he might score a couple of important goals in the next few weeks.
"We'll assess his situation in January but Rovers have not intimated that they want to take him on a permanent basis."
Gills boss Mark Stimson has been interested in signing Dickson since he scored 11 goals in 14 games in a loan spell two seasons ago.
And Parkinson added: "There could be other clubs waiting in the wings to take him.
"We'll see what happens when the January transfer window opens but I wouldn't be surprised if a club want to take him back out on loan."
