Kent coach Paul Farbrace plans split-season approach

Farbrace has two targets for Kent's overseas players

Kent are searching for two overseas cricketers to play half the season each - a fast bowler for the start of 2010 and a spinner for the second half.

Coach Paul Farbrace told BBC Radio Kent: "We are looking to split the season in two. It's how we wanted to break the season up.

"It's what we feel gives us the best chance of being successful in all competitions," he said.

Farbrace has confirmed neither target has played for Kent before.

South African Wayne Parnell and Ryan McLaren, who would now have to be signed as an overseas player because he has played for South Africa, will not be returning this season.

It is reported that one of the targets is Australian Stuart Clark, who signed for Kent last season but could not play because of international commitments.

"We hope both of them go through but neither are completed," Farbrace added.

He added that they are not just restricting their search to overseas players.

"We are also chatting to another couple of bowlers are not overseas and if we can get one of those two it will add good resources to our attack," he said.
