Rovers net Dickson from Charlton

Dickson impressed by Rovers pedigree

Bristol Rovers have completed the signing of Chris Dickson on a three-month loan deal from Charlton Athletic.

The 24-year-old signed for the Addicks in 2007 and has been on loan at Crewe and Gillingham and had been strongly linked with a move to the Gills.

Dickson told BBC Points West: "I looked at the set-up down here and there's a lot of history with strikers.

"It's away from London and away from the nightlife so I can get my head down and get focussed."

Rovers manager Paul Trollope said: "His pace, power and finishing ability is exceptional.

"We beat off competition from several other League One clubs and we think he'll be a real asset to us.

"He destroyed us when we played Gillingham a couple of years ago and we've monitored him since then."

The London-born forward should settle in well as he is already friends with fellow striker Jo Kuffour.

"I had a couple of texts from Jo telling me to get down here. I know a couple of other guys down here as well like Aaron Lescott," added Dickson.

Although he has signed initially for three months Dickson is keen to stay for longer.

"It's in my hands in the sense that depending on how many goals I score the manager might want to keep me on," stated Dickson.
