Duffy is to undergo a scan to discover the extent of his groin injury

Carlisle striker Darryl Duffy is awaiting results of a scan to find out the extent of the groin injury he suffered on Saturday.

Duffy went off in the 0-0 draw at Wycombe leaving Carlisle with just two fit strikers, but manager Greg Abbott is unlikely to source a replacement.

Abbott told BBC Radio Cumbria: "He'll have a scan and won't be involved tomorrow night [against Millwall].

"We've got a group that we've got to work with until that changes."

Duffy, who is on-loan from Bristol Rovers until the end of the season, has scored once in his eight games at the club, although he is yet to establish himself as a first-choice striker at Brunton Park.

Meanwhile Abbott remains adamant his side are enjoying a reasonable season in League One, despite some concerns from the club's supporters surrounding mixed results.

Wins against MK Dons, Exeter and Gillingham have been mixed up with defeats at Hartlepool and Swindon, but Abbott believes such inconsistency is indicative of the entire division.

"If you look at our division, Huddersfield Town for instance, who outplayed us and won the game comfortably, who in their next two games were beaten 5-0 by Southampton and 2-0 by Gillingham, you realise this is the league we're in," he said.

"There's only Norwich really who can suggest that week in week out they're consistent in turning in performances.

"We're not going to make too many bones about Saturday, we've played and been involved in some really good games this season, but Saturday wasn't and I'm not going to worry too much about that."
