Carlisle facing Graham fee delay

Carlisle United face a longer wait to determine what fee they will receive following striker Danny Graham's move to Watford.

The initial date set for a tribunal has been postponed at the request of Watford as it clashes with a pre-arranged friendly.

The Hornets initially tabled a £25,000 offer at the beginning of July which was immediately rejected.

The club had previously rejected a £250,000 bid from Huddersfield Town.

Graham is under 24 and, having turned down the offer of a new deal at Brunton Park, the Cumbrians are entitled to compensation for his services.

A Football League panel was due to meet on 27 July to make a decision on the fee to be paid by the Championship club.

"We turned down bids earlier in the season simply because we valued the player at a much higher level," Carlisle co-owner John Nixon said.

"We have had other offers since then and they still haven't matched what we expected to get so we were keen to get the issue resolved at a tribunal later this month,

"Obviously it is disappointing that it has now been postponed, but we hope to get a new date fixed sooner rather than later."

Graham scored 40 goals in just over 100 appearances for the Cumbrians since joining from Middlesbrough in 2007.
