Midfielder Jai Reason has said he is close to agreeing to a deal to stay with Cambridge United.
Reason has been on loan at the Abbey since February and is out of contract after being released by Ipswich.
The 19-year-old told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "The club have offered me a good deal.
"I've just got to get my head around potentially moving to Cambridge, but hopefully it will be sorted out within the next couple of weeks."
Reason had never played a competitive match before joining the U's on loan, but became a vital part of the first team over the final third of the campaign and played in their play-off final defeat.
The Ipswich academy product says he is already looking forward to getting back to work.
"I didn't want the season to stop, I keep going to the park just to play football," he said.
"In terms of next season, I've got to prove I'm worth my place in the side and then try and help the team to push for promotion."
Earlier this month U's boss Gary Brabin looked as though he may leave the Abbey after being given permission to speak to Blackpool.
Having been given his chance in the side, Reason was anxious to see Brabin stay on at Cambridge.
"It's a massive boost that Gary is staying, but it shows the quality of the manager that a Championship side are interested in him," he said.
"We're very lucky to have Gary here at Cambridge and to know that he's staying for another year has put my mind at ease."
Along with Reason, midfielder Daryl McMahon is also in talks over a new deal.
The 25-year-old joined the U's from Stevenage back in January.
