Brabin will have to sell players before he can buy new ones
Cambridge United boss Gary Brabin has ruled out allowing any more players to leave the Abbey in order to free up cash for transfers.
Lee McEvilly, Danny Brown and Steven Drench have all departed the club since the January transfer window opened.
The U's board have already warned that there is no money left to spend.
Brabin told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It would be hard to let anyone else go without the guarantee of bringing someone else in."
Brabin has secured striker Scott Rendell on loan from Peterborough United until the end of the season, but has no money left for either transfer fees or wages unless he sells first.
"The board have got to manage the finances accordingly and I fully respect that," he said.
"I've got a good quality bunch of lads and whilst it would be nice to add to that we just can't do it at the expense of losing players."
Mark Beesley and Wayne Hatswell have been linked with moves away from the Abbey but Brabin says there has been little contact with other clubs as yet.
"There have been a few tentative enquires, but at the moment there's been nothing firm."
