Cambridge United manager Gary Brabin has heaped praise on defender Phil Bolland following Saturday's 4-1 win over Woking in the Blue Square Premier.
The U's bounced back from Wednesday's 5-0 FA Trophy defeat to Crawley in emphatic style.
Brabin told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It was Phil Bolland who took responsibility for most of the goals in Wednesday's defeat to Crawley.
"But he gave me the response I expected, he was immense."
The U's switched formation for the weekend's match with Danny Crow coming in up front and Daryl McMahon making his debut in midfield.
Crow made it three goals for the season with a first-half brace, but it was Bolland who most impressed Brabin.
"Bolland's performance allowed the likes of McMahon to get on the ball and play," he said.
"Beesley and Crow looked really clever together and Chris Holroyd ran himself into the ground."
Brabin had called on the club to pull together following the Trophy defeat to Crawley.
The U's are next in action away at Wrexham on Thursday and Brabin is hopeful the Woking win will have galvanised players, supporters and the board.
"I made a bit of a point last week that I just feel we're so close and we've got a good thing here."
