Peterborough United director of football Barry Fry has warned Cambridge United that they may struggle to agree a permanent deal for Scott Rendell.
Rendell, 22, is on loan at the Abbey until January.
Fry told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We are prepared to do a deal with anybody, but we won't be losing money on what we signed him for that's for sure.
"We've already had bids for Scott from two League clubs and I've informed Cambridge of that."
Posh signed Rendell from Cambridge United in January for a sum in excess of six-figures.
The U's would seem unable to finance a deal of that order, but Fry believes a permanent move back to the Abbey would be Rendell's preferred option.

"Scott has bought a house between Cambridge and Peterborough, so I think he would be very interested in a return to Cambridge," he said.
Rendell has scored twice since returning to the Abbey on loan in November.
