Rendell has made just five starts since joining Posh in February
Peterborough United striker Scott Rendell has rejoined Cambridge United on loan until 1 January.
The 22-year-old joined Posh from Cambridge in February but has struggled to hold a first-team place.
Rendell said he is hoping the U's fans will accept him back during his second spell at the Abbey Stadium.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Hopefully they can forgive me, I'm back now and we'll just see what I can do for them."
The former Crawley man initially moved to Posh on loan but signed a permanent deal in the summer for a six-figure sum.
He had scored 19 times for Cambridge before switching to their rivals, triggering an angry response from some U's fans.
Rendell added: "I know how hard it must have been for them to see me leave for Peterborough but I chose to leave because there were lots of things going on."
