Cambridge United forward Lee McEvilly says he has nothing to prove to manager Gary Brabin following his recent three-match ban.
The former Accrington man scored a hat-trick as the U's went out of the Setanta Shield to Telford on Tuesday.
McEvilly told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It was nice to score the goals and give the gaffer a selection headache.
"But it wasn't a case of showing what I can do, because I'm in the team to score goals anyway."
Cambridge travel to Kidderminster in the FA Cup on Saturday where McEvilly will be hoping to hold onto his place in the side.
"It was great to score against Telford, but it would be even better to score on Saturday, and get the win," he said.

"I think it's a good tie, it's not the best game we could have hoped for, but it's not the worst".
McEvilly was suspended for three games following a late tackle in the U's 1-0 win over Weymouth in October.
