Quinn has previously won promotion from the Conference |
Cambridge United have appointed Jimmy Quinn as their new manager, a fortnight after Rob Newman was sacked as boss. The 46-year-old, who has previously managed Reading, Swindon, Northwich, Shrewsbury and Norwegian side Egersund IK, has signed a two-year contract.
During his time at Shrewsbury, he guided them to promotion from the Conference via the play-offs.
"We're delighted to get Jimmy - he fulfilled all our criteria from the start," chairman Lee Power said.
Quinn scored nearly 300 goals in a 23-year playing career with 14 clubs, and won 46 caps for Northern Ireland.
The appointment comes a day after Halifax boss Chris Wilder had been expected to be named as United's new boss - but chose to stay at Halifax instead.
