Wilder has been manager of Halifax for over four years |
Halifax Town manager Chris Wilder has had a change of heart and is set to stay at The Shay. Wilder, 38, was poised to take over at Conference rivals Cambridge United after holding talks with the U's.
But after receiving assurances about future plans at Halifax, he is to continue his four-year tenure there.
Cambridge had called a press conference for Thursday to unveil their new manager, while Halifax will now stage one of their own on Thursday afternoon.
Former Sheffield United and Bradford City defender Wilderhas been in charge of Halifax since July 2002.
He took over following Halifax's relegation from the Football League and almost led them back up last season, only to lose in the play-off final.
Cambridge have been looking for a new manager since Rob Newman was sacked at the start of the month following a winless start to the season.
