Bristol Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope has issued a stern warning to his team following the 2-0 away defeat by Tranmere Rovers.
"The players were told in no uncertain terms with regards to what's expected between now and the end of the season," he told BBC Radio Bristol.
"There'll be no easing up and if any individuals show signs of it they'll soon find themselves out of the team."
Two consecutive defeats have all but put paid to Rovers' promotion hopes.
With just six matches left in the season Rovers are now 13 points away from Scunthorpe who are in sixth place with a game in hand but Trollope is determined that their season does not peter out.
"We have made progress this year but if we finish poorly that'll all be forgotten, " he said.
"Certain individuals have been OK today and some haven't been and we'll be looking very closely now as we want to finish the season strongly.
"They know it's an important time of the season. There are four or five that are out of contract and decisions are still to be made.
"This club are going to take a big step forward next year and if individuals want to come with it, whether they're in contract or out of contract, they've got to show it."
