Orr confident for Newcastle trip

Bradley Orr
Orr has made 173 league appearances for City in five seasons

Bristol City full-back and former Newcastle player Bradley Orr says the team believe they can grab all three points at St James' Park on Saturday.

"If you look around our dressing room it's a very talented one, certainly the best I've been involved with in my time here," Orr told BBC Radio Bristol.

"It's going to be a great day but certainly one we feel we can go and win and we believe that as a squad."

City are in ninth place on 16 points, seven behind top-of-table Newcastle.

Orr, 26, began his senior career at Newcastle United in 2002 and spent two years in the North East before joining Bristol City on a free transfer in 2004.

"Certainly when the fixture list came out this was one of those games you looked to," admitted Orr.

"I'm looking forward to it as there will be a few people up there from my time there."

Bristol City won their last home game against Blackpool, their first in five games, while Newcastle could only manage a draw at home to Queens Park Rangers.

"After the first block of 10 games if we can get the win we're still in touching distance of them," said the Liverpool-born defender.

"Right throughout the club it's exciting times from Bristol City and the fans.

"While you can look at Newcastle United and say they've got some quality you've only got to look at our dressing room and the same quality is there."
