Owusu scored eight goals for Cheltenham in 26 matches

Brighton have signed Lloyd Owusu from fellow League One strugglers Cheltenham on loan until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old Ghana striker only joined the Robins in August but has been forced to move on because of the financial situation at Cheltenham.

Boss Martin Allen is loathe to lose an experienced campaigner who has scored eight goals for Town, but chairman Paul Baker over-ruled the manager.

Baker said: "We have to be a lean, mean machine and fighting fit next season."
