Kevin Thornton has played more than 50 games for Coventry City

Brighton have signed Irish midfielder Kevin Thornton on a six-week loan deal from Coventry City.

Thornton, 22, link up again with Albion manager Micky Adams, who gave him his Sky Blues debut three years ago.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Thornton has signed in time to face Northampton on Saturday.

Adams said: "Kevin is an exciting young talent who likes to get on the ball and play. He is going to be an excellent addition to the squad."
