McCall facing cash balancing act

McCall is preparing for his third season in charge of Bradford

Bradford City manager Stuart McCall wants two or three more players - but has to balance the books to do so.

City's failure to win promotion from League Two last season means McCall is operating on a reduced budget.

McCall told BBC Radio Leeds: "With missing out on Nicky Law, we'll need one midfielder, if not two.

"The budget is at its limit but central midfield and obviously a goalkeeper we'd hope to get someone on loan from one of the higher division clubs."

McCall has already brought in defender Simon Ramsden from Rochdale and Macclesfield striker Gareth Evans.

Of the existing out-of-contract players, last season's leading scorer Peter Thorne along with defenders Matt Clarke and Lee Bullock have committed themselves to another year at Valley Parade.

Youngsters Leon Osbourne and Luke O'Brien have accepted contracts of similar lengths.

Pakistan international captain Zesh Rehman has joined on a free transfer following his release by QPR, while McCall is still hopeful that winger Joe Colbeck will sign a new deal.

Bradford City finished 9th in League Two last season.
