Bournemouth striker Connell hopes to stay at Dean Court

In-form Bournemouth striker Alan Connell is desperate to be part of the Cherries' squad in League One.

The 27-year-old, who has scored three times in the last two games, is one of a number of players out of contract at the end of the season.

Connell told BBC Radio Solent: "I definitely want to be here next season. My best moments have been at this club and I want to continue that."

Connell left in 2005 for Torquay, returning via Brentford in 2008.

Cherries manager Eddie Howe has said the club's home form was 'fundamental' to their success this season.

Howe told the Daily Echo: "We started really well and have kept a lot of clean sheets at home, which has been fundamental to our success. We haven't perhaps been as free-scoring as we would have wanted, but we have ground out results and played really well.

"We had a couple of blips in-between, which I think is only natural in a long campaign. In the main, we can't fault the players for their efforts.

"After we had had three defeats in a row in January, two at home, we needed a response. Every time the players have looked like they are down and out, they have produced another performance from somewhere. It is those performances on the back of defeats that have been really special."
