Connell scored a late equaliser to salvage a point against Macclesfield

Bournemouth striker Alan Connell wants fans to stick by the team as their promotion bid enters its final stages.

Connell scored as the Cherries were held to a 1-1 draw against Macclesfield on Saturday, with their automatic promotion prospects in the balance.

Connell told the club website: "We have battled all season and now we have 14 cup finals left.

"I know supporters get frustrated and we understand that, but we need the supporters to stick with us."

Connell, who also headed a Macclesfield effort off the line, added: "We are giving our all for this club and this group of players really want to achieve something."
