Several clubs were chasing Rankine's signature

Bournemouth manager Jimmy Quinn says new loan signing Michael Rankine can become a fans' favourite at Dean Court.

The 23-year-old joined on a month-long deal on Wednesday from Rushden & Diamonds to bolster Quinn's attack.

The Cherries boss told BBC Radio Solent: "I'm confident the fans will take to him. He's big, he's strong and I'm pleased to get him in.

"Rushden didn't really want to let him out, but I kept on at them, and eventually they relented."
