Mostyn had been chairman at Dean Court since March 2007
Jeff Mostyn has resigned as chairman of Bournemouth after two turbulent years in charge at Dean Court.
Mostyn and vice-chairman Steve Sly have left the board of directors three months after bringing the club out of their six-month administration.
"During the past few weeks I have given a great deal of thought to my position," said Mostyn.
"It was always my desire to carry on as chairman in order to assist Paul Baker [new owner] through the transition."
Mostyn, who bought the club in March 2007, had remained as non-executive chairman following the takeover by Baker's Sport-6 marketing company in the summer.
He added: "I now believe the time is right for me to step down as chairman and allow Paul the freedom to develop the club in his own style, whilst also encouraging new investment.
"For those of you that know me personally, you will know the decision has not come easy.
"I am passionate about the football club, as I believe I've demonstrated throughout the two years that I've been involved, both as an investor and as chairman. "
