Fadiga is set to resume training
Bolton's Khalilou Fadiga
Fadiga is eager to resume his footballing career at Bolton
Bolton have confirmed Khalilou Fadiga will be back in training this week.

The Senegal international returned to the club on Tuesday after having an automatic defibrillator implanted to try and correct his heart problems.

Manager Sam Allardyce told Bolton's website: "Fadiga will recommence training this week. We will assess his condition over the next two weeks.

"The signs are looking very positive for the player and his state of health is improving every day."

Fadiga had an operation in Belgium 11 days ago after collapsing on the pitch before the Carling Cup game against Tottenham.

He is not expected to kick a ball for around six weeks, but his agent Charles Collymore said the player was very hopeful of resuming his career.

"He is optimistic of getting out there and playing in the near future. That is the end game," Collymore said.

Collymore also said the 29-year-old had been boosted by the backing he had received.

"Khalilou has been overwhelmed with the amount of support he has had in the footballing world," Collymore said.

"Bolton have also set a standard for the support they have offered."

Fadiga, who will stick to light training over the next few weeks, signed a deal until the end of the season after spending two weeks training with Wanderers in September following his release from Inter Milan.

He also underwent surgery to try to correct his irregular heartbeat in May and is yet to start a game for Bolton - he was due to be on the bench against Spurs before he fainted.
