Fadiga has yet to play for Inter |
Senegal's Khalilou Fadiga underwent surgery in a Belgian hospital on Wednesday to cure an abnormal heartbeat problem which has blighted his career with Inter Milan. Fadiga joined the Serie A side from Auxerre in July last year after playing more than 50 games for the French first division side.
But he was sidelined for the entire season after Italian doctors said the player had a heart complaint which put his life at risk.
The Italian giants put the transfer on ice after cardiologists in Milan refused to give the required medical certificate to enable the midfielder to play in Italy.
This followed the discovery of what they described as "a dangerous heart condition incompatible with performing professional sport."
The 29-year-old resumed training in January but has yet to play a single game for Inter.
Fadiga began his career with Paris St. Germain, and also had spells in Belgium with Liege and Club Bruges.
He played a major part when Senegal reached the quarter-finals at the 2002 World Cup finals.
