Brown desperate to face Man Utd

Blackburn goalkeeper Jason Brown hopes he has done enough to keep his place for Saturday's visit of Premier League champions Manchester United.

The 26-year-old Welsh international deputised for the injured Paul Robinson in the 2-1 win at Newcastle - his first ever top-flight start for Rovers.

He told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I'd like to think that all the work I've done behind closed doors is paying off.

"If I play again and play well then long may it continue."

Brown joined Blackburn from Gillingham in June 2006, but his appearance at St James' Park was his first ever Premier League start for the club after playing understudy to first Brad Friedel and now Robinson.

He said: "When you are working with someone like Brad Friedel, he was Mr Iron Man. He never seemed to break down and you do wonder if your chance will come.

It's a great experience for me and hopefully there will be many more experiences like this to come

"Paul came in during the summer and has done fantastic since coming to the club and he's an England international. So I've had to be patient."

Robinson is unlikely to be fit to face the Red Devils at Ewood Park this weekend. He is continuing to receive treatment on a calf strain that could jeopardise his participation for England against Kazakhstan.

Brown hopes there will be more starts to come for him at Rovers.

"It's one of the first times I've felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It's a great experience for me and hopefully there will be many more experiences like this to come."
