Barrow have signed midfielder Andy Ferrell from Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Gateshead on an emergency loan deal until 2 April.
The 27-year-old will provide cover for the injured Robin Hulbert and James Owen at Holker Street.
Ferrell began his career as a trainee at hometown club Newcastle United, but failed to make a first-team appearance.
He has enjoyed spells with Watford, Hereford, Kidderminster and York, scoring six goals in 172 league games.
He was placed on the transfer list by Gateshead in October and has featured 14 times for the club this season, scoring once.
