Barrow give keeper Taylor trial

Barrow

Barrow have taken Workington Reds goalkeeper Aaron Taylor on trial.

The Bluebirds, who were promoted from the Blue Square North last season, are looking to add a second goalkeeper to their squad as cover for Tim Deasy.

Taylor, who is second-choice at the Reds, has been training with Barrow and will play in the club's first friendly against a Furness XI this weekend.

Aaron is looking to take his career forward," Workington manager Darren Edmondson told BBC Radio Cumbria.

Barrow played the majority of their games last season without a keeper on the bench and joint managers Dave Bayliss and Darren Sheridan have made a back-up option one of their priorities this summer.

I don't want to lose him, because I think he has a lot to offer

Taylor made a handful of appearances for the Reds last season, deputising for Adam Collin, and impressed on each occasion.

I don't want to lose him, because I think he has a lot to offer," Edmondson added.

The former Penrith and Carlisle City goalkeeper made his Blue Square North debut in September last year.
