Australia cricket captain Ricky Ponting has become a shareholder at Altrincham FC, before attending a Manchester United friendly at Moss Lane.
The Australian cricket captain is to attend the Robins' pre-season friendly against a United XI on Tuesday.
Chairman Geoff Goodwin, the Australian team bus driver, has given Ponting 500 shares in recognition of the batting legend's help in club fundraising.
He said: "Ricky has become a very good friend and I'll be proud he's there."
