Holdsworth led Aldershot to 14th place in League Two last season

Aldershot Town have signed midfielder Jamie Collins and goalkeeper Ross Worner on free transfers.

Collins, 26, played under Shots boss Dean Holdsworth at Newport County and scored 10 goals in 45 appearances for the Welsh side last year.

The former Watford trainee, who can also play at left-back, has signed a one-year contract.

Worner, 21, made 11 appearances for Charlton Athletic last season and has agreed a two-year deal.

Holdsworth told the club website: "I have known Jamie since he was nine years old when he was at Watford. He possesses all the attributes that I am looking for.

"We have waited for him as there were stipulations from my former club regarding contract matters.

"Ross has the calibre to push Jamie Young in goal and they will be a good partnership together."
