Dean Holdsworth appointed new Aldershot Town manager
Holdsworth had been manager at Newport since May 2008
Former Newport County boss Dean Holdsworth has been appointed manager at Aldershot Town.
The 42-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year deal and is joined by County assistant boss Matthew Bishop.
The former Wimbledon and Bolton striker took charge of his last game at Newport when they lost 3-2 at Tamworth on Tuesday night.
"Yeah, that's done and dusted," said Holdsworth as he bade farewell to the Blue Square Bet Premier side.
"Aldershot sold the picture, the plan, and said they wanted to see it go forward, which excited me... it's a new challenge and a Football League challenge, which appeals to me."
Holdsworth's appointment comes after Kevin Dillon left by mutual consent.
The Shots have suffered four straight home defeats in the league and currently lie 20th in the table, prompting Dillon's departure on Monday.
Holdsworth took over at Newport in May 2008 and guided them to promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier in 2009/10 season and had signed a new two-year deal with County in June 2010.
