Surrey bowler Dunn 'delighted' by Championship debut

Matthew Dunn

Surrey fast bowler Matthew Dunn says he was delighted with his maiden five-wicket haul on his Championship debut.

Dunn became the first Surrey bowler for 56 years to claim such figures.

The 19-year-old was called up half-way through the Division Two match against Derbyshire to replace Jade Dernbach who was called up to the England squad.

"To get the opportunity first was incredible and to finish it off like I was able to do was unbelievable," he told BBC London 94.9

Dunn, who made his county debut against Bangladesh in 2010, says he was very nervous after his late call up.

"I've never been so nervous in my life, I couldn't believe it," he explained.

"I found out the night before that I might be playing then in the morning I got the confirmation and had to go out and bowl.

"My confidence grew from there and I just tried to show what I can do."

The England Under-19 bowler took 5 for 56 and formed a partnership with Tim Linley, who took his first ever ten-wicket haul to help Surrey to an impressive seven wicket victory.
