The New Saints have altered their coaching line-up as they look to secure the Welsh Premier title.

Assistant boss Carl Darlington will concentrate on first-team coaching, to work alongside the club manager and director of football, Mike Davies.

Long-serving player Scott Ruscoe has also joined the coaching staff.

"We see this as development for the club as well as Carl and Scott," Saints general manager Ian Williams told BBC Radio Shropshire.

Darlington, who is currently studying for his Uefa pro licence, will have senior responsibility for first-team matters under the title of head first-team coach.

He will work with Davies, who will continue to oversee all aspects of football development at the club from the academy structure through to first-team affairs.

"I'm delighted to extend my responsibilities with the club, working alongside Mike Davies to ensure that the club once again is successful not only domestically but also on a European stage," said Darlington.

The Saints are currently one point clear at the top of the Welsh Premier - with the winners qualifying for next season's European Champions League.

"We are once again having a fantastic season at the club," said Davies. "It's a team effort and our coaching structure will ensure continuity well into the future.

"Having Scotty on board will give the players an added lift as we strive to end the season on a high."

Ruscoe is currently working to complete his A licence coaching qualification.
