Millwall challenge for Barry
Barry enjoyed a big Euro night against Porto in 2001

Barry Town continue their warm-up for their Champions League clash with Skonto Riga when they entertain Millwall at Jenner Park on Friday (kick-off 1945).

The Dragons travel to Latvia next week for the match on Wednesday, 17 July, and will be looking for a good performance before that.

Former Manchester City and West Ham midfielder Ian Bishop is likely to make his debut after signing for Barry's European campaign.

He is looking forward to his Champions League bow - at the age of 37.

"It is a bit strange to have the youngsters here telling me what it's like to play in the competition," he admitted. "But I didn't play at Wembley until I was 34 so I'm doing everything at the back end of my career.

Full-strength

"The match against Millwall is a great chance for me to blow away the cobwebs and get some sharpness back.

"While I was at West Ham we had a few derby matches against Millwall and they were always fiery occasions."

Millwall are expected to bring a full-strength side to South Wales for their first pre-season friendly of the season.

They will have no fans though, with Barry banning away supporters from the game on the recommendation of local police.

  • There will be a minute's silence before the game in honour of former Barry chairman Paula O'Halloran, who died earlier this week.
