Intertoto Cup - first round, first leg
Marek Dupnitsa (Bulgaria) v Caersws
Saturday, 22 June

Welsh club Caersws have been drawn against Bulgarian side Marek in the first round of the Intertoto Cup.

It is a tough reward for the village side who finished fourth in last season's League of Wales and won the League Cup.

Marek are based in the town of Dupnitza, south of the capital Sofia and finished in 11th place in the Bulgarian League.

They are currently in top spot in the relegation series of matches and look set to retain their position in the First Division.

But the club's biggest moment came in 1978 when they won the Bulgarian Cup.

The return leg will played at Aberystwyth's Park Avenue ground on Saturday, 29 June (kick-off 1500 BST).

  • Meanwhile, Welshpool and Ton Pentre have appealed to the Football Association of Wales following their failure to gain promotion to the League of Wales.

The duo, who won the northern and southern feeder leagues, were told that their facilities do not meet the necessary standards.

As a result, both Rhayader and Haverfordwest - last season's two bottom clubs - escaped relegation.

But now Welshpool and Ton Pentre have lodged appeals with the FAW, with Bulldogs boss Kevin Richards saying he will consider his future if they are not promoted.
