Derry's new committee has yet to talk to Stephen Kenny

Derry City boss Stephen Kenny is being linked with the vacancy at Dundalk as the crisis-hit Brandywell club have been put into administration.

On Friday, Ronan Duffy and James Green of McCambridge Duffy LLP were appointed administrators of the club's holding company Wellvan Enterprises Ltd.

There is also speculation that Kenny has been holding talks with Dundalk.

As of Friday morning, Derry's new steering committee had yet to hold any discussions with the current manager.

A statement said that the administrators "are working closely with the company directors to determine how best to maximise asset realisations for the benefit of the company's creditors".

Phil O'Doherty, steering committee chairman, said the issue of the Derry management would be addressed "soon" adding that it would speak to "Stephen Kenny and one or two others".

"Obviously, the players then will be discussed with the manager," added O'Doherty.

The steering committee chairman added that former Brandywell manager Tony O'Doherty and Sean Barrett had agreed to become directors on the new Derry board.

Barrett is a previous director of the club.

It is understood players and other staff will be offered statutory redundancy.

Phil O'Doherty added that it was unclear if fans with season tickets for next year would get their money back.

"There is upwards of £50,000 that has been paid by these people and I feel very sorry for the position that they are in.

"We are going to have to look at something that can compensate them in some way," Mr O'Doherty said.

"We have to be very careful not to try to take on the debts of the previous limited company as legally we aren't allowed to do that but we are going to have to see if anything can be done.

"The same situation applies to the 300 or so people that paid £20 to become members of the social club," he added.

"We are going to try and get the football club reformed and then look at that again."
