Derry City manager Stephen Kenny has suggested that the club's Premier League future may be in some doubt.

"The club is under pressure and it is important that we are in the Premier League next season although there is probably a concern about that.

"There is a lot of uncertainty and we know we have to play our part by taking cutbacks but hopefully everything goes well," said the Candystripes boss.

"We are in a difficult situation but there is great passion for the club."

The Brandywell club has endured significant financial difficulties in recent months and the club's players are known to be unsettled.

"A lot of people behind the scenes love the club although we are in a difficult situation at the moment," said Kenny.

"We have lost our last five games and confidence is not all that high but one victory can change all that and we want to try and finish in third place," added the Derry boss, ahead of Friday night's game against Derry City.

"We have a game against St Pat's who are in real relegation trouble, even though they have largely the same squad which finished second in the league last season.

"They need the points to avoid a play-off and stay up while we have an opportunity to qualify for Europe, even though we have made it difficult for ourselves.

"We have got to be positive and get the victory - we must believe that we can win and get out of the poor run of form we have been in.

"The off-field stuff has made it chaotic to say the least but we have got to focus on the football."
