Derry's Steven Gray and Cork's Alan O'Connor challenge
Mark Farren scored the winning penalty as Derry reached the semi-finals of the FAI Ford Cup by beating Cork 5-3 on spot-kicks after the match ended 0-0.
Darren Murphy had a first-half chance for Cork before Steven Gray and Eddie McCallion went close for the home side.
Sammy Morrow was denied by Michael Devine and Gerard Doherty then saved from Denis Behan in extra-time.
Kevin McHugh, Thomas Stewart, Kevin Deery, Gareth McGlynn and Farren scored penalties but Behan's effort was saved.
Murphy shot over from the edge of the area and, after the break, Devine let Gray's shot slip through his hands but the ball went narrowly wide.
Devine then held on to McCallion's 30-yard shot at the second attempt.
In the 72nd minute, Morrow was clean through on goal with only Devine to beat but the goalkeeper touched his effort over the bar.
The game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes and Behan went closest for the holders in extra-time, Doherty turning his shot away.
Derry scored all five of their penalties in the shootout and only Behan missed for Cork, Doherty saving his attempt.
The Candystripes will face Galway in their semi-final on Sunday 26 October.
