Derry City boss Stephen Kenny praised his team after the 6-1 rout of Wexford Youths in Saturday night's Eircom League Cup final.
"It was a fantastic team performance and the players were magnificent.
"I would have taken 1-0 before the game so to win 6-1 shows that the attitude of the players was fantastic and they were simply brilliant.
"Their application and commitment has been spot on and they are a really good group to work with."
City were 5-1 ahead after just 31 minutes while striker Sammy Morrow netted a hat-trick and Niall McGinn bagged a double.
Candystripes skipper Clive Delaney believes Derry's bright start was the key to victory.
"We showed the right attitude from the start and it paid off," he said.
"After Kevin Derry made it 3-1 I didn't think we were going to have any trouble.
"It's an absolute privilege to captain these players - everyone played in the cup run which shows we have strength in depth.
"We'll enjoy this but we have to focus on Tuesday's FAI Ford Cup quarter-final replay with Cork."
