Robertson said last month that he was "very unsettled" at the club |
John Robertson's short reign as Derry City manager ended on Tuesday night after the Eircom League club released him from his contract. "John has has been dismissed from his contract for several issues," said Derry chairman Pat McDaid.
"We're very confident that John has not honoured the terms of his contract so we've decided to dismiss him."
Robertson, who joined City in July, had acknowledged he was considering his future at the club for family reasons.
The former Hearts boss won the FAI League Cup during his time in charge but the Candystripes struggled in the league.
Former Derry manager Stephen Kenny will be linked with the role but he said over the weekend that he would not be returning to the club.
Kenny was sacked from the Dunfermline job last week and ironically Robertson has been mentioned as a possible successor at the Scottish outfit.
Last month, Robertson claimed that there was "a lack of transparency" at the Brandywell and said that he had been left "very unsettled" by boardroom upheaval.
Robertson's own domestic circumstances and the exits of the chairman Hugh McDaid and chief executive Jim Roddy led to his public comments making clear his dissatisfaction.
