Drogheda's Tony Grant competes with Darren Kelly of Derry |
Derry City missed out on a chance to be clear leaders of Group One in the Setanta Cup as they were held at home by Drogheda United on Monday night. Derry went closest in the first half when Kevin Deery's superbly-struck free-kick came off the United crossbar.
In the second half there was another scare for Drogheda as Pat McCourt's dangerous cross was almost turned in for an own goal by Jason Gavin.
Derry are now level with Linfield on four points at the top of the group.
Drogheda, the holders, have just one point from their two games having suffered an opening night defeat by Linfield.
In Group Two, St Patrick's Athletic won 3-1 away to Cork City.
