Kevin McHugh netted the opening goal of the new Eircom League Premier Division season to give last season's runners-up victory over Bray Wanderers. The former Finn Harps man beat Steve Williams in the 32nd minute after Pat McCourt's skill had created the chance.

It was not a convincing performance by Derry but new boss Pat Fenlon will be happy to have kicked-off with a win.
