Darren Armour scored Lisburn Distillery's opener |
Second half goals from Darren Armour and Tim Mouncey earned Lisburn Distillery a 2-0 win over 10-man Portadown in Saturday's league game. Mouncey, Armour and Andrew Dickson went close for the Whites in the first half but the match remained scoreless at the interval.
Armour headed Distillery ahead in the 68th minute - three minutes after Cullen Feeney's sending off.
Mouncey's superb curling free-kick in the 73rd minute completed the scoring.
Distillery were the better side in the first half and had the better efforts with Mouncey going close on two occasions and Dickson just missing the target from a volley.
Portadown improved after the interval and Distillery goalkeeper Michael Dougherty had to move smartly to save at Gary Hamilton's feet early in the second half.
However, the crucial moment in the game was Cullen Feeney's dismissal in the 65th minute when he received his second booking.
Three minutes later, Armour headed home Francis Murphy's cross to put Distillery ahead.
With Peter McCann struggling in Feeney's right-back position, he then conceded a free-kick in the 73rd minute and Mouncey curled in a superb free-kick to double the Distillery lead.
