Brian Russell volleyed Crusaders into a first half lead |
Ballymena United extended their unbeaten league run to five games thanks to Tim McCann's late equaliser against Crusaders at the Showgrounds. Crusaders had looked to be on target for their third win of the campaign as they led through Brian Russell's 37th minute volley.
But just before the final whistle former Glentoran winger McCann pounced on a mistake to level at 1-1.
Ballymena's only league defeat remains the opening day reverse at Loughgall.
Russell's opener was a fine back post strike after a good pass from Colin Magill.
Oran Kearney should have levelled it before half-time but side-footed wide from six yards.
There was a bit more urgency about United in the second half and Rory Hamill went close with a header.
However, the home fans had to wait until seconds from the end as McCann scored his first goal in a Sky Bklue shirt.
