Scotland coach Berti Vogts hailed the last few days as a "great week for Scottish football" after another hard-fought victory on Tuesday night.

The 3-1 victory over Canada added to Saturday's win over Iceland has brought about a new optimism regarding the national team.

And Vogts was equally pleased about the continuing good form of the under-21s, who also recorded two wins this week, over Iceland and Ghana.

The German hopes that the more games the teams play, the better they will become.

"I saw a lot of good things today," he said after the defeat of Canada.

"The players need international experience, especially the young ones."

Vogts praised debutant Paul Devlin's second half performance on the right wing, but special mention was reserved for strikers Stevie Crawford and Steven Thompson.

"Both worked very hard for the team and Crawford, especially, had a great week, firstly in Iceland and then with two goals here."

Crawford was delighted to have added to his international goal tally, but praised the whole team for the spirit shown to come from a goal behind.

"I think it shows the attitude and the fight in the team at the moment," he said.

"I know we got a good result on Saturday, and that will help the confidence and help blend the team together."

He also admitted that he was enjoying his partnership with Thompson and likened it to the one he has forged at Dunfermline with Craig Brewster.

"Steven holds the ball up well, he's an aerial threat and he scored a very good goal tonight," he added after the game.

Captain for the evening Christian Dailly suffered a cut eye during the game, but he insisted afterwards that it was a small price to pay for another victory.

"It's all for the cause, but all the boys have worked so hard," he said.

"We've been desperate to turn it around and we feel that we're getting there now.

"The more games we play together, the better we're going to get, and it's looking rosy just now."
