Scotland coach Berti Vogts is the man to turn around the country's footballing fortunes, despite six games without a win.

That is the opinion of the Scottish Football Association's chief executive David Taylor.

Scotland midfielder Barry Ferguson said after the humiliating draw against the Faroe Islands that time was running out for the Scots to start producing results.

But Taylor insists that Vogts will not walk away from his commitment to Scotland, and the SFA would not be asking him to leave.

"It's not Berti's style to walk away, just the reverse in fact.

"There's definitely a bit of the Scottish character in him. When things go wrong he doubles his efforts. He's determined to do well."

And he added: "Berti is definitely the right appointment, along with Rainer Bonhof, to reshape Scottish football.

"He is here for the long term, and he is also here to improve our whole system."

Barry Ferguson rescued Scotland on Saturday with the second-half equaliser.

But Vogts' vice-captain knows that more performances like that will not be tolerated.

"Time is running out," Ferguson said.

"We can't keep saying give Berti time. That's six games and we've yet to win."

Many interpreted that as a veiled threat to the manager, but Ferguson's ultimatum was aimed at his fellow players as much as the coach.

"We need to start producing the results.

"The first half was unacceptable, and although the second half was better we can still improve.

"In spells of the second half, there were some positives, we showed we can play a bit, but it's so disappointing."
