Essex sides Chelmsford City, Thurrock and Grays Athletic all bowed out of the FA Cup in the fourth qualifying round.
City suffered late agony in losing 2-1 to Stevenage with the visitors' winner coming in injury time.
Rob Edmans had given Chelmsford the lead in the first-half before they had Simon Glover sent off.
"I thought we deserved a result as we put so much into the game and I was proud of the boys," manager Glenn Pennyfather told BBC Essex.
Thurrock went down 2-0 at Blue Square Premier leaders Oxford with both goals coming in the second half.
"I was pleased with the first-half performance but if we're brutally honest we let us down in the second period," said Thurrock boss Hakan Hayrettin.
"But Oxford are a credit to the league and my players will have learned a lot from that."
Grays continued a miserable away run as they were well beaten 3-0 at Luton to leave them to concentrate on Blue Square Premier survival.
"You can't afford to play for half a game and in the first 45 minutes were were non-existent," manager Julian Dicks said.
"I told the players exactly what I thought at half-time and we did get about them a bit more but I wanted an FA Cup run and I'm disappointed."
