Were there racist chants at the game?
Not really. It was more a question of the opposition between Marseille and PSG - the clubs are huge rivals.

The fans have a long history of hatred and that came out again on Saturday - there was trouble before and after the game.

Ratio between racial groups in the stands and on the pitch?
There is a section of the Parc des Princes called the Bologne, and here you can see black fans and Arab fans.

Paris is like London - it is a cosmopolitan city and the crowd reflects that.

And there is a broad racial mix in both sides, particularly in the PSG side

Any racist banners, flags or graffiti in the ground or surrounding streets?
No. The banners and flags are concerned with the rivalry between the clubs, rather than political notions.

I went to the game with my eight year-old son, and I will not be going to the Parc des Princes with him again.

But this is because of the trouble between the fans, and the fact that there had to be 2,000 policemen there, and not because of issues of racism.

Were non-white players targeted by sections of the crowd?
When a black player was abused, it was because he played for PSG or Marseille, not because he was black. And there was not a racial element to the abuse.

Was there any visible anti-racist action from the club or police?
The authorities in the ground were more concerned with trouble between the two sets of rival fans rather than racism.

Jerome Lefau Connier is deputy editor of Grand Stade.
